Why Gaseous Fire Suppression?
Gaseous fire suppression systems are provided in two main forms, chemical and inert agents. Fire suppression systems are used to protect business critical or irreplaceable assets and normally work by either oxygen displacement, chemical interruption, cooling or a combination of these.
Gaseous Fire suppression systems are installed in a large range of different application from some of the worlds largest data centres, handling many hundreds of millions of pounds worth of transactions to the very smallest comms room for any SME’s.
Users of Gaseous fire suppression systems are everyday household names such as British Petroleum, British Telecom, most high street banks and many of the UK’s top 100 Companies.
Suggested Systems (Inert, extinguish by Oxygen reduction)
IG541 is a mixture of 52% Nitrogen, 40% Argon & 8% CO2 it is designed and installed to BS EN 15004 parts 1 & 10. The most commonly know trade name is Inergen. The gas is stored at pressures between 150 and 300 Bar
IG55 is a mixture of 50% Nitrogen & 50% Argon and is designed and installed to BS EN 15004 parts 1 & 9. The most commonly know trade name is Argonite The gas is stored at pressures between 150 and 300 Bar
IG01 is 100% Argon and is designed and installed to BS EN 15004 parts 1 & 7. The gas is stored at pressures between 150 and 300 Bar
IG5100 is 100% Nitrogen and is designed and installed to BS EN 15004 parts 1 & 8. The gas is stored at pressures between 150 and 300 Bar
- Cryogenic (Nitrogen or Argon)
Cryogenic systems store the inert gas as a liquid at lower pressure (typically 26 Bar) and are much more cost effective for large application and offer substantial benefits over the high pressure solutions above. These will be designed and installed to BS EN 15004 part 1

HFC-227ea (Also known as FM200) is a clean, colorless, agent. It extinguishes flames primarily through heat absorption, accepted and respected worldwide with over one hundred thousand installations in more than seventy countries. Also Known as FE-227 and produced by DuPont.
Novec 1230 is one of the most environmentally friendly chemical agents available today with an Ozone Depletion potential of 0, a Global warming potential of 1 and an atmospheric lifetime of just 5 days or less. Now available in a 42 bar version which will take up less space. It is also know as sappire
- Hypoxic Air (Area Inerting)
System works by keeping the oxygen level constantly below combustion levels thus enabling the space to be constantly protected. No expensive gas storage or any discharge pipework is required.
CO2 works by reducing oxygen and some cooling. Is available in either local application or total flood variants. Designed, Installed and Maintained to BS5306 Part 4.
